Our end of year dinner at Joy's Craft Kats in Kalgoorlie, was last wednesday nite. I did a workshop on Humbug bags, (humbug because of the lollies that look like it). We had fun and it was nice easy workshop and everone finished there bag as well as ate all the xmas goodies. The nite was a great success, and we should have walked home, so we could exercise all the food away.

Our New Off Roader
Dennis and I decided we needed an Off Roader Caravan, so we traded last month and this is our new Van. Made to order, big fridge and freezer to fill with seafood we catch, muddy's and snapper from up north. Nice comfy queen bed, for reading and nana napping. Nice big kitchen for my kitchen bitch ( Dennis). So now we can go anywhere in Australia, we can get up close and friendly with the croc's up the north end also. We will probably head off next year in March.

My day
Started my day by bogging my Patchwork room out, and found all my strips of fabric from all the quilts I have ever made, so this will be come a quilt one of these years.
Then did a bit of gardening and collected some seed pods.
Then finished off my duffle/swag bag ready for the next retreat. So I had a great day.

SNAKE KILLER
Went to feed the girls this morning, fed them and watered there yard, so it would be soft for them to dig for worms/bugs etc. Then went off watering the rest of the garden, as I looked back to see what the chooks were fighting over, they were so excited, it looked like a big, like huge worm, but it was a baby brown snake. The head was in a one chooks mouth and the body and tail were in other chooks mouths, and the snake was still fighting for life, so I though I had better rescue them for there own good. Had to fight to get the snake off the chooks, the one with the snakes head in her mouth, she had fought for it, and it was hers, and she was not letting anyone have it. So I pryed it from her, and she let go, the snake takes off across the yard. I had nothing on hand to kill it with so I used the brick on the roof of the chook shed. I put the snake in a jar cause it was still alive, and I like dead snakes. I hope the chook lives, cause she had the snakes head right down her throat. Anyway later today when the snake was dead, I put it back in the chook pen, so they could play with there large worm, and they had fun. The offender is now no more. And these are the days of our lives.

PATCHWORK
My latest sewing projects finished, are the Geese pattern, by Pam Bono Designs, very complicated and time consuming, but pleasing to the eye. The Leaves and owls is a Leaves challenge we had at our Patchwork group, "The Crazy Stitchers", had plenty of fun designing this one, also doubles as a pressy for my sisters birthday. Jan Mullen dogs was produced at a week of Jan Mullen Pattern at my house in Kambalda, I invited two ladies up from Esperance, and we Produced three wonderful Jan Mullen Quilts. WE lived in our PJ's for most of the week, and Jan was worried about our welfare, incase we did not shower for that long. She had nothing to worry about, we needed another shower, so we could change into a new set of PJ's. A great week was had by all. The Charston folk is an embroidery design, that I had fun with.

Yummy Cake
When I was travelling the East Coast in winter thisyear, I called in to see my Sister who lives in Gin Gin Queensland, another group she frequents is The BoolBoonda Hall Quilters, they were having a Biggest Morning Tea, so we hung the quilts and make tons of scones and it was a great day. The Geese Quilt is my latest, still to be quilted. The cakes are a fun project pin cushion,I donated them for fund raising raffles.

The Kalgoorlie Girls
At the end of August, I returned to Esperance for the tri-annual gathering of "Patching by the Port", organised by GERQA (Goldfields Esperance Regional Quilters Association. This was an excellent event of workshops, with the tutors from all around the world, Jenny Forbe's from Albany, Alison Schwarbe originally from Kalgoorlie, but now residing in Uraquay, Debra Louie from Sydney, and many others. There was an auction on the wednesday nite to start off the week of workshops, to raise money for breast cancer research, flying doctor and this year the money was the most raised. Then on to workshops, for 4 days, then finishing off with Dinner at Bonaparte's Restaurant, with a three course meal and speaches, and lots of drinking and eating. Looking forwar to three years time for the next PbP.
